Eastern Point Beach

Eastern Point Beach is a lovely family oriented beach with seasonal amenities that include lifeguards, snack bar, restrooms and showers, and basketball and volleyball courts. Scenic views of where the Thames River meets the Long Island Sound are enjoyed by all.  The beach season runs from mid-June through Labor Day. This year the beach season begins on Saturday, June 18, 2022 and ends on Monday, September 5, 2022.

Gate hours are 8 am - 8 pm through Labor Day, September 5th.

How do I purchase a Season Beach Pass:

Drop Box or Mail In will be available starting May 1st throughout the remainder of the summer (ends 9/1/22), drop off/mail in all your necessary documents (copy of car registration, photo ID and legal sized self-addressed stamped envelope) and beach pass fee for processing.

The Drop Box is the big blue box at the top of the landing of the City Municipal Building.
You must include a #10 sized self-addressed stamped envelope OR add $1.00 to the fee to cover mailing.  Please be sure we have your correct address for mailingChecks made out to: City of Groton.
Mail In, please address as: City of Groton Parks & Recreation, 295 Meridian Street, Groton CT 06340.
Pass will be mailed back to you. Process may take up to a week.

In Person Sales will begin on Saturday, May 7, 2022 from 9 am—2 pm. 

In person sales only accept cash or check for payment. Checks made out to: City of Groton

Acceptable documents to obtain a Season Beach Pass:
Current car registration of the car that the pass will go on, ID (driver’s license) must match name on that registration. If you are a city taxpayer or have just moved to the City of Groton but registration does not show a City address you can show a current tax bill, utility bill, lease or deed to prove residency.

(Vehicle registration is needed to purchase a pass)
City Residents, 62 years old and older/City Taxpayers, 62 years old and older*     $15.00
City Resident/City Taxpayer               $32.00
City Resident/City Taxpayer 2nd Vehicle      $22.00
Town of Groton Taxpayer 62 yrs+ *    $32.00
Taxpayer may be required to show current tax bill as proof.

Non-resident 62 years old and older*      $48.00
Non-resident        $70.00

* To be eligible for this rate, an individual must be 62 on or before Labor Day.

DAILY PARKING (8 am to 8 pm)
For Residents and Non-residents without season passes per vehicle:
$20 weekdays
$30 weekends and holidays
$40 Special Events that affect the Beach parking
5-8 pm daily—1/2 price for Non-Residents, Free for City Residents
